What is Ladli Laxmi Yojana?
Ladli Laxmi Yojana was launched by the Madhya Pradesh government in the year 2007. The scheme aims to bring about a change in the negative attitude of society towards the birth of girl children. Additionally, the major initiative was to improve the sex ratio, educational as well as health status of girl children. After the success of the scheme, other states also adopted and implemented it for the upliftment of girl children.

When was it launched?
Ladli Laxmi Yojana was launched on May 2, 2007 by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. It is currently active in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, and Jharkhand. The scheme benefits girl children born on or after January 1, 2006 in non-tax paying families and female orphans.
Features of the scheme
The scheme focuses on empowerment of girls and takes initiatives to provide them financial assistance
- All girls registered under the scheme will be facilitated with educational expenses so that their family is able to send them to school.
- However, girls who drop out of school are excluded from this scheme and will not be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.
- The government provides Rs 1 lakh to the applicant’s family for marriage.
- Girls married before the age of 18 will not be benefited under the Ladli Laxmi Yojana.
Eligibility for Ladli Laxmi Yojana
Here is the list to know who will be eligible to get the benefit of Ladli Laxmi Yojana:
- The girl child whose parents are natives of Madhya Pradesh. The parents of the girl child should not pay any kind of tax to the government
- In case of the second girl child, the parents who adopt family planning can get the benefit of the scheme
- The lump sum amount of Rs 1 lakh is released only if the registered girl child is not married before the age of 18
- If the girl leaves her education midway, she will not be eligible to get any benefit of the scheme
- Two girls of a family will be benefited under Ladli Laxmi Yojana. However, if the girls are twins then the third girl will also get the benefit
- This scheme is valid only for people below the poverty line
- The orphan girl child can get the benefit of this scheme only if she is adopted and the adoption certificate is duly submitted by the family

Ladli Laxmi Yojana was launched with the objective of laying a strong foundation for the future of girl child in India. Aiming to improve the educational and economic status of the families of registered girl child to bring a positive change in the mindset of society.

The State Government purchases National Savings Certificate (NSC) of Rs. 6000/- in the name of girl child every year after their birth. Purchase of NSC continues for five consecutive years until the total amount reaches Rs. 30,000/-
Under this scheme, the girl child registered will receive a fixed amount on promotion. The girl child will receive a scholarship of Rs. 200 per year for her education after XI till class XII. Rs. 400 per month will be given as scholarship. In addition to this, if the girl is not married before the age of 18, she will receive a lump sum amount of Rs 1 lakh on reaching the age of 21 years.

- There are three options on the page– Public Service Management, General Public and Project Officer.
- Select and click “General Public”.
- Read and fill the form carefully. Click on “Save” to apply.
- Applicant has to attach scanned copy of all mandatory documents with the application form and click on submit to send the form for further selection process.
